The king of mythical Marshovia orders a royal guard to woo a wealthy widow in order to keep her vast resources in the bankrupt country.
The guard willingly pursues the widow to Paris where he mistakes her for one of the light ladies of the famous Maxim's.
There, the widow proves a discouragingly hard conquest - especially when she discovers the reason for his flattering attentions...
