Baron Frankenstein is experimenting to demonstrate that the soul survives the body after death - using his own frozen body to prove his theory. The execution of his young assistant Hans, and the suicide of Hans's sweetheart, Christine, provides the Baron with the opportunity to develop his research in a new, macabre direction.
