Tonight from BBC Scotland Current Account on A Place of Strangers
In its Gaelic origin, Dunoon means a place of strangers. The latest ! influx to the town on the lovely Holy Loch came in 1961 from the American fleet of missile submarines. They were met with waves of protest.
Sixteen years later the Clyde coast town has learned to live with Polaris and Poseidon and the 2,000 US servicemen and their families.
But they've had to adapt in some surprising ways.
