(Chancellor of the Exchequer)
Mr. Neville Chamberlain has been Chancellor of the Exchequer for the National Government since 1931. Today, therefore, he will be delivering his fifth Budget speech. And this evening he comes to the microphone to tell listeners concisely all about his plans for collecting and spending the taxpayers' money during the next twelve months.
From 1918 to 1929 Mr. Chamberlain was M.P. for the Ladywood Division of Birmingham. Since 1929, however, he has represented the Edgbaston Division. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer as far back as 1923 ; and subsequently he has filled the important posts of Post-master-General and Minister of Health.
The first of three talks dealing with the Chancellor's Budget will be given tomorrow evening by the Rt. Hon. C. R. Attlee , M.P.
