An appeal on behalf of the Voluntary Hospitals of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, by the Rt. Hon. the Earl Baldwin of Bewdley, K.G.
The work of the hospitals in this second year of war is in the very front line of our war effort, and it is to remind listeners of the pressing need for continued public support in this effort that Lord Baldwin will be speaking this evening. These hospitals are now, as always, the nerve centre for the treatment of the sick. If they were vital before the war they are doubly vital now in their role of refuge, not only for the victims of the air raids, but also for those who are ailing and cannot be removed to safety.
