Appeal on behalf of the Council for Music in Hospitals by a consultant psychiatrist

The Council for Music in Hospitals was formed in 1947 to provide 'live' concerts for patients in mental hospitals to alleviate their loneliness. Professional musicians give their services for a nominal fee. Approximately 360 concerts are given annually.
Hospital Medical Superintendents find that music is a factor in helping the patients to recovery, and the Council for Music in Hospitals would like to expand their work to new hospitals and to encourage music therapy research. Funds for this work are urgently needed.
