Sea and Ships: 6: Cornish Pilchard Drifters

For nine months each year great shoals of pilchards approach the south coast of Cornwall. 120 luggers from the Cornish fishing ports earn most of their living from these shoals with mile-long drift nets. But this fishery is declining and this film goes to sea with the pilchard fleet to investigate its future prospects.
