Festive cheer is put on the backburner as a rogues' gallery of middle-aged moaners vent their spleen on everything they find repugnant about Christmas in this Scrooge-esque special edition. Pantos, nativity plays, false bonhomie and novelty socks are among the many bugbears as Jeremy Clarkson , Andrew Marr and John Sergeant add their gripes to those of the usual cast of Will Self, Arthur Smith, John Peel, Rick Wakeman and Rory McGrath.

A bunch of middle-aged men moaning about everything from body piercing, lazy language and celebrities to mobile phones, the royal family and call centres: it doesn't sound too appealing, does it? Yet this was the basis for one of the funniest documentary series of 2003.
However, if you're a child of the 1960s and bitterly disappointed with the way things have turned out, your list of grievances is probably never-ending. So having done their Victor Meldrew best to get all their everyday complaints off their chests, Will Self, Rick Wakeman, Arthur Smith, Andrew Marr, Jeremy Clarkson et al now turn their attention to the festive season. Among the things they'll be saying "Bah! Humbug!" to are pantomimes, carol singers, stuffing and shopping. Whoever said "Tis the season to be jolly" can't have met this lot... JR
