Series looking at the plight of the Nottinghamshire miners as the coal industry goes further into decline.
Hope. This week's documentary follows the story of entrepreneur Dennis Bull , who owns a company called Vista. He presents the union with a plan to lease closed colliery sites and convert them to recycling parks, turning huge quantities of domestic waste into useful by-products and providing much-needed jobs for redundant miners.
In return for being able to use the union's name, Bull offers the UDM 25 per cent of the equity. Because of the wholesale redundancies in the coalfield, the union is willing to embrace any scheme that could help its members to support their families, and vice-president
David Prendergast is enthusiastic. But president Neil Greatrex has reservations.
