A celebration of the life and music of the great British composer who died earlier this month, presented by Humphrey Burton.
Excerpts from the BBC archives include Walton filmed in Ischia and conducting Facade in the studio. Andre Previn contributes an appreciation, and a portrait is narrated by Gillian Widdicombe , his authorised biographer.
Two major Walton works are heard from his 80th Birthday Concert which was televised live from the Royal Festival Hall on 29 March 1982 in the presence of the composer-his last public appearance in this country.
