This beautiful brigantine was built in 1980 to give Irish youngsters a taste of life under sail. Last August her trainee crew set sail from Galway under the bos'n's eagle eye and made course for Kilkerrin where Asgard II was met by a fleet of black hulled Galway hookers, historic craft which once used to supply the islands off Ireland's Atlantic coast.
