Despite being one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe, London's Oxford Street is one of the last major centres to get security cameras. As over a million pounds is lost every week to store thieves, and cases of street crime are constantly being reported, the police, the council and retailers have combined forces to install a £500,000 closed-circuit TV system.
