An international chess tournament between eight of the world's leading Grand Masters. The players have been divided into two groups with one point awarded for a win and half-a-point for a draw. The winners of each group will meet in a sudden death final for a first prize of £2,500 and the Master Game trophy. Game 2:
Lothar Schmid (w GERMANY) v Viktor Korchnoi (SWITZERLAND)
The first of Group B games. The German chess-playing millionaire was referee of the last world championship chess match in 1978. He clashes with the temperamental genius, who was so narrowly defeated in that match. Expert analysis by WILLIAM HARTSTON
