A History of Britain by Simon Schama

on BBC Two England

Another chance to see Simon Schama evoking key moments of Britain's dramatic past in this flagship series.
Dynasty. Henry II built one of the greatest empires of the medieval world, but it was torn apart by his wife, Eleanor of Acquitaine, and his scheming sons, King Richard the Lion Heart and King John. Henry gave Britain the jury system and legal statute books, but is probably most remembered for ordering the murder of his one-time friend Thomas Becket , the Archbishop of Canterbury.
