Portrait of a Country Year
The last of three seasonal films
Gordon Beningfield , whose paintings of the countryside and its wildlife have been a popular feature of this series, looks back over his year as an artist in the country. His home village of Great Gaddesden in Hertfordshire is only half-an-hour up the motorway from London, yet it has retained all the character of a more traditional rural England. The Echoes of Winter
The corn is cut and the countryside turns gold. The shepherd gathers in his flock and the game-keeper sets his pheasants free. With the first snows come the early lambs, and in the woods the guns echo the end of another country year.
