The First Programme Broadcast of Rudyard Kipling's Works selected by R. Ellis Roberts and Val Geilgud

This programme 'By Rudyard Kipling' must not be considered as intended in any way comprehensively to represent the career or the sum of the work of this great author. Few writers have displayed so many varying facets of activity as Rudyard Kipling, nor did he substitute for the leisured splendours of English prose the mannerisms of Mr. Jingle. So anything like complete representation is rendered impossible. But those who know and love their Kipling will find here some of their favourites, while in those who do not know Kipling it is hoped that this selection may raise a desire for a further knowledge of one of the great short-story writers of the world.
