Where the public sets the agenda
Lesson with Mother
'I'm in Maths, me mam's in French, Me dad in woodwork makin ' a bench' (from a song by TERRY KENNEDY , age 12)
Alan Corkish - ex-stoker, docker and bricklayer, now a teacher in Liverpool -hopes that local people's ideas, including Terry's, will set the style for the city's new Community School system.
With the help of the locals - and their Vauxy Theatre Group - the concept of school as a place where reluctant kids are force-fed 'education' for six hours a day is enthusiastically laid to rest. Made by ALAN CORKISH with the help of the Community Programme Unit Director STEVE CONNELLY Producer GAVIN Dutton
