Eli Wakefield and his son Little Eli decide to leave their home in Kentucky and strike out for the wide-open spaces of Texas. But in the town of Prideville the big backwoodsman finds himself arrested by the local sheriff and thrown into jail.
Filmed mainly on location in Kentucky, this frontier adventure marked
Burt Lancaster 's debut as director.
