World Cup Stories: Brazil: the Golden Team

on BBC Two England

2/6. The 1950 World Cup final saw hosts Brazil lose to neighbouring Uruguay in front of 200,000 fans in Rio. Such was the shock at the unexpected defeat, officials forgot to present the winners' trophy. But the preternatural talents of Pele and Garrincha inspired Brazil to put this huge upset behind them, and go on to dominate the event for the next 50 years. Narrated by Robert Lindsay.
