The Other Half

on BBC One London

with John Pitman
Six love stories about people in the public eye and their partners.
1: John and Miriam
They are known as 'racing's most glamorous couple'. He is handsome, working-class John Francome , all-time record champion National
Hunt jockey. She is Miriam, his beautiful, well-bred wife - herself a fashion model.
The Francomes are rich and successful from a sport so dangerous that one in every ten rides ends in a fall. 'I'll be glad when he stops', says Miriam. 'He's been comparatively lucky, but every day falls take their toll'. 'I'm well insured', says John. 'So if I kill myself she won't be destitute'.
