In September 1982, one week before the massacre in the Sabra and Chatila district of Beirut, the civilian population were rebuilding lives and homes broken by three months of bombing, shelling and shooting.
At Gaza Hospital, British doctors and nurses were among the foreign volunteers who were trying to cope with the human debris of modern siege and bombardment.
