Sonatina; Sonatina seconds played by Philip Levi (piano)
This is the first of three recitals devoted to Busoni's six piano sonatinas, which were written during the decade
1910-20. The first, which dates from
1910, is dedicated to the Swiss pianist Rudolph Ganz. The second, composed two years later, is dedicated to Mark Hambourg ; Busoni later made use of some of the material from it in his opera Doktor Faust. D.C.
