The 40th anniversary of the prestigious World Match Play tournament gets under way at Wentworth Club in Surrey.
Twelve of the world's finest golfers are poised to battle for a cheque of £1 million. It's the biggest prize in European and American golf, far removed from the L5,000
Arnold Palmer received for winning the first staging of the event.
The tournament features four knockout rounds staged over 36 holes, whittling down the challengers to one overall winner. This morning, the eight unseeded players in the draw began their quest for the title.
