Summer of 76

on BBC Two England

Summer Exhibition Reporter Jack Pizzey
More than 5,000 artists travel to London each year to try their luck in Britain's largest and most popular art show, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Sunday painters, obsessive painters, art teachers, ' 'primitive' painters. Some have been rejected in previous years -but still come. Others are trying for the first time. For where else do the unknown have the chance of hanging next to the famous?
Summer Exhibition (' best show of the week' said CLIVE JAMES when it was first shown) took a look at last year's Academy and followed some of the hopefuls.
