Sir Peter Parker , Chairman of British Rail, believes that Britain must continue to stand by the mixed economy. ' But to help the system create the wealth we need for the. years ahead, both public and private enterprise,' he says, ' will need to be co-ordinated in a way which avoids the political battles of the last 30 years.'
