Miss Lou at Rada

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Louise Bennett , who in 1945 became Rada's first black female student, died last month. As a tribute, here is an opportunity to hear this documentary again.
Bennett's use of the Jamaican language and preservation of her country's cultural roots made her one of Jamaica's greatest icons. Yvonne Brewster tells the pioneering story of "Miss Lou", as she was affectionately known. With contributions from Linton Kwesi Johnson , Leonie Forbes and Rex Nettleford. Producer Caroline Hughes
