Tonight's presentation in this season of feature films with action, spectacle and excitement stars Robert Mitchum, Curt Jurgens with Al Hedison and Theodore Bikel

During World War II, in the South Atlantic, an American destroyer encounters a German U-boat. In the ensuing days the two captains play a desperate game of cat-and-mouse as they assess and exploit their knowledge of each other's strategy.
Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens give outstanding performances as the rival captains in this tense and exciting story directed by ex-actor Dick Powell.
