Bona idolises Gardo, a handsome young actor, and is overwhelmed when he condescends to notice her. Defying her respectable family, she moves into Gardo's home. Life with a movie star, however, is hardly the romance that Bona imagines.
Lino Brocka made his name at home as a prolific director of box office successes but has won international recognition for his acutely observed stories from contemporary Philippine life. Bona is a sharply realistic portrait of a young woman in love and, incidentally, pokes fun at the Philippine film industry.
