With parents in the Watford area trying to decide where to send their 11-year-old children in September, Francis Combe School is under intense pressure to compete for business in order to avoid possible closure. Anthony Taylor, whose job it is to promote the school in the best possible light and attract new pupils, believes the school should not be forced to sell itself in the market place.
Many of his teaching colleagues feel the same way. But the final decision lies with the parents.
