Respected San Diego detective DempseyCain is critically injured when his brother messes up a drugs raid. As rehabilitation seems pointless, Cain devises a macabre multi-million dollar plan to ensure his wife and brother can benefit from his life-insurance policy. But all is not as it seems, as Detective Rhinehart discovers when he starts to unravel a complicated web of adultery, murder and betrayal.
