Every year malaria attacks hundreds of millions of people. For centuries, men of many nationalities have searched for remedies. Explorers and botanists sought the bark of a South American tree which, they suspected, contained the secret of a cure. The secret discovered, the bark was then cultivated in many countries of the East; and now laboratories all over the world are producing synthetic substitutes for the bark.
