Tuberculosis kills more people than any other infection. Yet for 20 years the developed world has ignored this disease, assuming it had gone away. Now TB has returned to the west, in a new and terrible form, and it poses such a threat to public health that health authorities from Africa to the USA have had to come up with radical ideas to combat the disease.
