A series of six documentary films in which the flavour of a vanishing Britain is captured by Terence Carroll
On the roads leading into Aldershot there are signs proclaiming proudly that the town is The Home of the British Army. If you were to ask any old soldier who had served there what he thought of the place he would hardly choose a comfy word like 'home,' but today's Aldershot is vastly different from that experienced by millions of men on their way to all our wars. Gloomy old barracks have been knocked down to make room for a bright new military town that bewilders Old Contemptibles but suits young parachutists. This film catches it as it is-and was.
