Geza Frid , of Hungarian nationality, is well known both as composer and pianist. He was born in 1904 and began studying the piano at the early age of five. Later he entered the Budapest Academy of Music, where he continued his piano studies and also studied composition under Bela Bartok.
Frid's String Quartet was performed in Budapest and London in 1927, and since then he has composed several new works, including a concerto for pianoforte and choir, which was broadcast in 1935, with the composer at the piano. His orchestral suite has been performed in Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest, Boston, and New York.
