Wiener Blut

on BBC Two England

(Viennese Blood)
Music by Johann Strauss Libretto by VICTOR LÉON and LEO STEIN starring Rene Kollo and Ingeborg Hallstein
This lavish and colourful new pioduction of one of Strauss most popular operettas was filmed on location in and around Vienna.
Count Zedlau's recent marriage does not prevent him from taking an interest in an attractive ballet dancer, Franzi, nor from pursuing a pretty mannequin called repi.
Unfortunately, he does not know that Pepi is engaged to his valet Josef....
Wilier Blut has all the classic ingredients of Viennese Operetta
- mistaken identities, romantic sub-plots, a completely happy ending and lots of sparkling music including the immortal waltz from which Wiener Blut takes its name.
Introduced for BBC television by NIGEL DOUGLAS
Orchestra conducted by ANTON PAULIK
