Presenter Raymond Baxter Sir Thomas Octave Murdoch Sopwith, yachtsman, powerboat racer and pilot - born 18 January 1888 - was a leading pioneer of flight and one of the premier aeroplane constructors of the century, from the Sopwith three-seater tractor bi-plane of 1912 to the Hawker harrier of today.
In celebration of his 100th birthday, the aircraft industry held a lunch in his honour yesterday at the Brooklands racing circuit clubhouse.
Interviews and speeches from those who worked with, and who know. Sir Thomas provide an insight into a founding father of the British aircraft industry.
