Germany: the Miracle Fades Germany since the war has been envied by her European neighbours. Stable, prosperous and successfully combating inflation and unemployment, the German economic and political miracle seemed set to continue. But over the past two years daunting problems have emerged.

As Chancellor Schmidt faces this formidable array of problems and challenges, David Jessel reports on the new uncertainties in Germany.
