The Calling: Something a Little Bit Different

on BBC Two England

First of a five-part documentary series focusing on the trials and tribulations of becoming a Christian minister by following students at Queen's College, Birmingham, who are preparing for a life in the Church.

Student Chris Rowberry, a former social worker and chef, chose to apply for the Church of England's priesthood when he was at the Greenbelt Christian rock festival two years ago. He is a New Age sympathiser and subscribes to a controversial approach to faith called Creation Spirituality. His views clash with the more traditional spiritual values of Queen's College and, a few months into his studies, he is wondering why he came to train in a theological college at all. He also has to prepare to deliver his first service.
