Introduced by James Bellini
April showers arrive and 15,000 works of contemporary art never exhibited before in London are deposited at the doors of Burlington House,
Piccadilly, London, the home of the Royal Academy. Three weeks later the selection and hanging committee (a group of Royal Academicians and Associates of the Royal
Academy) have seen every submission and made their selection - a daunting task.
A number of guests are asked to make their own selection from about 2,000 works actually exhibited, which in fact gives viewers a preview of the 217th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
