The title of Barbara Ward's book Only One Earth could be the theme of her life's work-economist, journalist, academic. She is recognised as the world's leading authority on the relationship between the poor, developing countries (The Third World) and the rich industrial nations.
Her book is a report to the UN Conference which opens in June, to discuss the development of the Third World without the cost in pollution already paid in the developed world.
She outlines her theme with Lord Boyle of Handsworth, Professor Kenneth Mellanby, George Ige, Brian Johnson and John Milton
