Thomas Mitchell plays the part of the famous American author in the film series based on his short stories.

The old doctor, relic of the Civil War, meets a young adventurer in a South American State. The latter is caught up in an unsuccessful revolution and condemned to death. The doctor buys his freedom-unfortunately with Confederate dollars.
