A series of programmes made specially for audiences in the BBC regions and now seen for the first time countrywide.
Tonight, from BBC Scotland, Current Account's "Oilscape with Figures"
The small Orkney island of Flotta, in Scapa Flow, was barely managing to survive with a population of 82 until the oilmen came. A thousand strangers were imported to build a huge tanker terminal for the American Occidental Group: and island life was threatened in a different way.
Occidental took whole-page advertisements in national newspapers to proclaim how well they integrated with Flotta. Kenneth Cargill sets out to find the islanders' version of the story.
