The Exeter Musical Society in its present form dates from 1930 when the Exeter Oratorio Society, founded in 1846, joined forces with the Cathedral
Augmented Choir which was founded in 1920. The new Society has a membership of 150 and has performed most of the great choral works. The performances are given in Exeter Cathedral and the Society is conducted by the Cathedral Organist, Dr. Alfred W. Wilcock.
