A film about the artist
Edgar Degas. Written and narrated by David Thompson Painter, draughtsman, print-maker, photographer, sculptor; in his witty and perceptive portrayal of 'modern life', Degas exploited every technique available. A major Arts Council exhibition of his work as a print-maker is currently at the Hayward Gallery, London. This film, shot in the places where he lived and worked, explores the themes he made his own: the racecourse, the ballet class, the work of laundresses and cafe life. with pupils of The Royal Ballet School Executive producer CHRISTOPHER MARTIN
