Mutiny at Invergordon
On Tuesday 15 September 1931 the men of Britain's Atlantic Fleet mutinied. They refused to sail their ships south from their Scottish anchorage at Invergordon in protest against severe pay cuts proposed by the new National Government. The mutiny lasted for little more than 24 hours, but few of the men and officers serving with the Atlantic Fleet have ever forgotten the events of that September over 50 years ago, or for-their promise that there would _ be no victimisation of any of the leading mutineers.
