1 For a man who has been in the office at ten o'clock with a clean collar for 25 years, this is a wonderful life.'
RICHARD ADAMS was 54 when his first book, Watership Down, made him world famous. The rabbit saga, first told as a story to his children, has now sold five million copies. Adams's second novel, Shardik, was another best-seller and now his third, The Plague Dogs, is just out.
ROBERT ROBINSON visited Adams on the Isle of Man, where he now lives, to talk to him about fame and fortune and about work in progress, which includes a new departure - an erotic novel.
