A series of six programmes
with Professor Jacques Monod
When a Nobel Prize-winning scientist writes a summary of his philosophical ideas that sells nearly a quarter of a million copies it suggests that he has something to say to all of us. When he is also French and a witty and skilful debater it's well worth listening to him saying it, especially when his ideas on the apparent purpose behind man's evolution are as strongly challenged as they are by philosophers, Christians, and Marxists. Four such challengers listen to Professor Monod, Director of the Institut Pasteur, and discuss his ideas in the Theatre of the Royal Institution.
Introduced by Professor Sir George Porter
