Butterflies
Narrated by TOM FLEMMING
A kaleidoscope of the most delicate and beautiful insects in the world. That beauty has proved irresistible ever since the days when early collectors bagged the huge and elusive birdwings of Papua New Guinea with shotguns.
But there is more to butterflies than pinned specimens, or even the magical transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult. Territorial British butterflies fight off intruders. Australian armoured caterpillars live in ants' nests. The amazing monarch butterfly migrates thousands of miles, wintering in a secret hideout in Mexico. There, 20 million monarchs clustered in a few acres of forest form one of the most dazzling spectacles in the world.
