Tonight: Nymphs and Shepherds - 50 Years On , In 1929, 250 Manchester school- children sang ' Nymphs and Shepherds ' with the Halle Orchestra. It was made into a gramophone record which became a classic and is still being played. The original nymphs and shepherds. most of them now in their 60s, celebrate their 50th anniversary this month. In tonight's programme they pay tribute to the late Gertrude Riall , their choir-mistress, who instilled in them a love of music and a joy in singing which was to last a lifetime.
