BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards

2018

Episode 1: Highlights

Duration: 1 hour, 14 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two Northern IrelandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Scotland

Filmed live at Wembley Arena in front of teen-only audience that Taylor Swift officially crowned as 'the loudest audience in the world', the show is a non-stop mix of awards, surprise celebrity hits, incredible teenage stories and multi-sensory music performances. Such is the impact and reach of the event that in recent years Kensington Palace have opened their doors and invited the show and the inspirational teenagers celebrated at the awards in for some Royal tea and biscuits.

2018 is no different with a line-up headlined by the biggest girl band on the planet - Little Mix. They are supported by 5 Seconds of Summer, Jonas Blue feat Jack and Jack, Liam Payne, HRVY, NOT3S and Mabel and Sigrid. Also gracing the stage are the stars of Eastenders, Doctor Who, X-Factor, Love Island and many others. As always there are moments to light up social media with features including global K-pop sensations BTS, celebrity surprises and Royal engagements.

Each year the event hands out a series of awards, all voted for by Radio 1 listeners, ranging from Best TV Show to Most Entertaining Celebrity. However, the fundamental purpose of the show is to honour and celebrate three incredible Teen Heroes who, despite taking on and enduring their own hardships, have helped countless others by raising awareness of the issues they have faced.

So get some hankies on standby and strap yourself in for a loud, funny and heartwarming ride that everyone will be talking about. Show less
